Wet bulbs from the subsurface drip irrigation with water supply and treated sewage effluent REA

The use of treated sewage effluent (TSE) combined with the subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) method in agriculture can decrease the costs of agricultural production, in attempts to fertigate crops more efficiently. In this study it was compared the dimensions of the wet bulb formed by the application of TSE and municipal water supply (MWS) in an Oxisoil. We have evaluated the effect of water quality and discharge between drippers used in sugarcane crop. Three trenches were opened and 21 three-rod TDR probes were setup in a mesh and a dripper was buried at 0.30 m, for each constant discharge of 1.0 L h-1and 1.6 L h-1. White mold detection in common beans through leaf reflectance spectroscopy REA

ABSTRACT This study aimed to identify wavelengths based on leaf reflectance (400-1050 nm) to estimate white mold severity in common beans at different seasons. Two experiments were carried out, one during fall and another in winter. Partial Least Squares (PLS) regression was used to establish a set of wavelengths that better estimates the disease severity at a specific date. Therefore, observations were previously divided in two sub-groups. The first one (calibration) was used for model building and the second subgroup for model testing. Error measurements and correlation between measured and predicted values of disease severity index were employed to provide the best wavelengths in both seasons. Yield and quality of elephant grass biomass produced in the cerrados region for bioenergy REA

The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of two genotypes of elephant grass, fertilized with and without N, for biomass production for energy use under the edaphoclimatic conditions of the Cerrado. The genotypes Roxo and Paraíso, grown in a field experiment in a Latosol in the Cerrado region were evaluated for biomass yield, nitrogen accumulation, C:N and stem:leaf ratios, fibre, ash and P and K contents and calorific value. The accumulated dry biomass ranged from 30 to 42 Mg ha-1 and showed no response to nitrogen fertilization with the lowest biomass obtained by the genotype Paraíso and the highest by Roxo. The objective of this study was to evaluate the use of subsoiling, gypsum and organic matter associated with the cultivation of cotton, sunflower and cowpea in crop rotation, seeking the reclamation and use of a saline-sodic soil. The treatments were arranged in a randomized block design in split plots with four replications, during two crop cycles (2009/2010 and 2010/2011). The plots were formed by the treatments: T1. ABSTRACT Plant yield is strongly influenced by the amount of water used by it. In this sense, yield response factor (Ky) allows evaluating the decrease in yield as a function of the evapotranspiration that occurs, which may be an important tool for harvest forecasting. Therefore, this study aimed to determine Ky for winter corn crop grown in the region of Dourados, MS, Brazil. The yield function analysis based on the water factor, which requires actual (Ya) and maximum (Ym) yield data, as well as actual (ETa) and maximum (ETm) evapotranspiration, was used to adjust Ky. ABSTRACT Selection and dosage of desiccating herbicides may bring benefits to bean harvesting and its seed quality. This study aimed to assess yield, apparent specific mass and coloration of azuki bean seeds after pre-harvesting desiccation with different herbicides and doses and subsequent storing. In a first trial, we tested paraquat 400 (g ai ha-1), ammonium glufosinate (400 g ai ha-1), glyphosate (720 g ai ha-1), flumioxazin (30 g ai ha-1) and control. Zoneamento bioclimático da região sudeste do Brasil para o conforto térmico animal e humano REA

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar as condições de clima da região Sudeste do Brasil, por meio do índice de temperatura e umidade (ITU), e apresentar o zoneamento bioclimático relacionado ao conforto térmico animal e humano. Os valores de ITU foram estimados a partir de dados de temperatura e umidade relativa do ar para o período de 1980 a 2000. Quatro intervalos de ITU foram usados para classificar o desempenho humano (ITU < 74: conforto; 74 < ITU < 79: quente; 79 < ITU < 84: muito quente, e ITU > 84: extremamente quente), e dois intervalos para classificar a produção animal (79 < ITU < 84: perigoso e ITU > 84: emergência). Foram utilizados dados meteorológicos médios diários de 437 estações meteorológicas distribuídas por todo o Estado da Bahia para realizar o zoneamento bioclimático de vacas leiteiras e o declínio da produção de leite para vacas com nível de produção de 10 e 25 kg dia-1, nas condições térmicas desse Estado. As variáveis consideradas foram a temperatura (Ta) e a umidade relativa do ar (UR) que foram utilizadas no cálculo do índice de temperatura e umidade (ITU). ABSTRACT Using geostatistics, this study aimed to analyze environmental conditions for wean-to-finish swines at 3 pm, during the most sensitive phases to thermal stress (growth/ finishing and finishing). To this end, dry-bulb temperature, relative humidity, air speed, ammonia and carbon dioxide concentrations were measured at 81 equidistant points within the barn. Descriptive statistics was used to classify attribute variability, generating mean, median, variation coefficient, asymmetry and kurtosis, through the normality of Kolmogorov-Smirnov (KS).
